Gourmet Points (also known as Experience Points in other games), are required to level up in Restaurant City. You can obtain Gourmet Points while your game is loaded, it doesn’t require you to be actively playing.

You can check how many Gourmet Points you have from your Gourmet Points Bar. If you click on this bar, you’ll be told how many points are required for the next level. Upgrades include different things, such as restaurant interiors, more employees, more garden plots, or special items.
